About
Yanett Omer (She/Her) is the Halal and Kosher Grocery Program Student Coordinator at UCSB Basic Needs. She is majoring in Sociology and speaks English. She organizes weekly grocery distributions, researches halal- and kosher-certified food items, coordinates orders, and communicates with participants to support students with halal and kosher dietary needs. Her previous experience includes working as a medical scribe, volunteering at a senior home, and serving in student organizations at UCSB. She was inspired to take on this role because she wanted to improve students' access to culturally and religiously appropriate food. She grew up in Los Angeles and enjoys reading, swimming, and watching movies in her free time.
