Hello! My name is Siouxzie Medina, I am from Baldwin Park and am a fifth year, majoring in Environmental Studies and Sociology. During my time at UCSB, I have been fortunate enough to to work as a Calfresh Advocate and Basic Needs Peer Advisor for about three years now. I am extremely grateful to be someone on campus who is helping students attain food sovereignty, and have felt that within this position I am making a difference on campus towards this effort. As someone who is a first generation student, I know that navigating the Calfresh application and the resources here on campus can be overwhelming and I hope to make it a more enjoyable experience for community members. :)
